Comments : These are great rockfish to swim with. I do not see them very often in Puget Sound, and somewhat more often on the coast. However, in the Port Hardy area, they are readily found around kelp forests. The reason I like this aptly named fish is that they are somewhat colorful, abundant, and they do not seem to be intimidated by divers. In fact, they seem a curious about me as I am about them. From the picture, you can tell that these fish like to hang out together in schools, often in shallow water right below the kelp canopy.
