Giant Nudibranch
(Dendronotus iris)

Image ID: 212-01

Comments : These are extremely beautiful nudibranchs, and I have only seen them on two occasion, both times in very poor vis. Tatsolo Point, where I photographed this one, is down near the Nisqually mud flats and the silt runs super deep here. Just blinking causes the silt to stir at this site. Vis on this dive was between 5 and 7 feet, yielding a less than stellar photo with the 35mm lens. These nudibranchs apparently eat tube anemones, which are very plentiful down off Tatsolo Point.
