Pile Perch
(Rhacochilus vacca)

Comments : Pile Perch can be readily found in most northwest waters. However, I always have a heck of a time getting a good shot of these fish. They are usually found in shallower water (where vis tends to be not as good), and do not stick around when I raise a camera in their direction. This one cooperated somewhat, although I hate taking pictures of "fish tails". Beggars can't be choosers, so this shot will do until I get a better one. These fish are bright, abundant, and always a welcome companion on a dive. If you look carefully, you can see a Striped Sea Perch in front of the Pile Perch.
