Comments : These are cool little fish, and they are all over Puget Sound. However, most divers never see them. During the day, the like to hide under solid structure and usually retreat into their den when approached. At night, we will occasionally find them out on the hunt in the open. They are very flighty and spook very easily, so getting pics of them is tough. When spooked, they can quickly dart away quickly for cover. These gunnels are often confused with Crescent Gunnels.
